Kisan Ko Poko (translation: Farmer’s Basket) is a new initiative providing an alternative way of connecting small farmers from throughout Nepal with consumers in the Kathmandu Valley. It is a food subscription service and store showcasing the wide range of products produced by small farmers belonging to Nepal Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Ltd.’s member agriculture cooperatives across Nepal.
At Kisan Ko Poko, we believe in the power of local food. Not only is buying local better for the environment, with less transportation required to get the food to your plate, but it is also better for our health! With Kisan Ko Poko, you are able to trace exactly where your food came from!
Currently, there are around 500 farmers involved in this initiative, spanning across various districts throughout Nepal. Nearly 80% of the farmers producing our products are women!
